HSINCHU, Taiwan ¡V July 12, 2006 ¡V Following the opening of SEMICON WEST this year, SEMI today announced the appointment of Archie Hwang, chairman and CEO of Hermes-Epitek, as chairman of the industry association's International Board of Directors.
After his becoming the first Chinese to sit on the SEMI board,
and being honored in 2005 with the Bob Graham Award,
Hwang's recent appointment is assuredly paramount recognition of his,
and his colleagues' achievement in the semiconductor equipment industry.
"Over the past 36 years, SEMI has served the needs of our global industry and helped members expand their business,¡¨ said Hwang. ¡§As we move into a very exciting and challenging time, I am pleased and honored to serve as the chairman of this organization.¡¨
Hwang's term as SEMI chairman will extend from July 2006 to July 2007.Given his six years of experience as a SEMI board member,
it is expected that he will continue to play an active and productive role in the semiconductor and FPD industries.
